RECALL: CA, AZ 80,000 LBS of Beef Products

Manning Beef, LLC, a Pico Rivera, Calif. recalling approximately 80,000 pounds of beef products that may be contaminated with E. coli

The following products are subject to recall:

Combo bins of BroPack Inc Beef Manufacturing Trimmings "65/35, 50/50 or 85/15" produced on Sept. 23, 2011.

Combo bins of Paso Prime Beef Manufacturing Trimmings "65/35, 50/50 or 85/15" produced on Sept. 23, 2011.

30 and 60 lb. boxes of primal cuts, subprimal cuts and boxed beef produced on Sept. 23, 2011.

The establishment is recalling a variety of beef primal and subprimal cuts (such as top round and tri tip) and manufacturing trimmings.

RECALL: Kroger and Buthers Brand 131,000 LBS of Ground Beef

Tyson Fresh Meats Emporia, Kan, is recalling approximately 131,300 pounds of ground beef products that may be contaminated with E. coli O157:H7,

  • 5-pound chubs of Kroger-brand "GROUND BEEF 73% LEAN - 27% FAT," packed in 40-pound cases containing eight chubs. Cases bear an identifying product code of "D-0211 QW
  • 3-pound chubs of Butcher’s Brand "GROUND BEEF 73% LEAN - 27% FAT," packed in 36-pound cases each containing 12 chubs. Cases bear an identifying product code of "D-0211 LWIF MORE....

UPDATE Cantaloupe death toll hits 14 and still rising

As many as 14 people may be dead in a still-widening outbreak of listeria food poisoning tied to contaminated cantaloupes, according to a tally of state health officials' counts, and unfortunately that number is going up and it's not only the "un cut Cantaloupe" that is under recall.....MORE

CANTALOUPE RECALL EXPANDS TO CA

The whole cantaloupes in question were shipped between July 29th, 2011 and September 10th 2011, and distributed to the following states: IL, WY, TN, UT, TX, CO, MN, KS, NM, NC, MO, NE, OK, AZ, NJ, NY, PA. AND Now California has been added. The whole cantaloupes have a green and white sticker that reads: Product of USA- Frontera Produce-Colorado Fresh-Rocky Ford-Cantaloupe or a gray, yellow, and green sticker that reads: Jensen Farms-Sweet Rocky Fords. If the whole cantaloupe is unlabeled, please contact your retail store for sourcing information. Jensen Farms is requesting any consumer that many have one of these cantaloupes to please destroy the products.

RECALL: Cantaloupe at Least 17 States Involved

Rocky Ford Cantaloupe shipped from July 29 through September 10, 2011, and distributed to at least 17 states with possible further distribution. • The recalled cantaloupes have the potential to be contaminated with Listeria and may be linked to a multi-state outbreak of listeriosis. • The CDC reports that at least 22 people in seven states have been infected with the outbreak-associated strains of Listeria monocytogenes as of September 14. • Patients reported eating whole cantaloupes they purchased from grocery stores marketed from the Rocky Ford growing region of Colorado. • While all people are susceptible to Listeria, older adults, persons with weakened immune systems and pregnant women are at particular risk....MORE

Fine Mexican Food Products, Inc. (FMP) located in Ontario California is recalling 1,423 Cases of 12/2 lb. Frozen Avocado Pulp and 1,820 Cases IQF 8/3 lb. IQF Avocado Halves as distributed since June/2010 because of the possibility to be contaminated with Listeria Monocytogenes, an organism which can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections Frozen avocado pulp and IQF avocado halves were distributed to distributors in California since June 2010.

These 2 products are identified as FMP white label on the corrugated shipping carton and pack size is 2.2 lb. /bag 12 per shipping carton and Product code 00115 for Frozen Avocado Pulp.
